Google Maps will soon let you know which streets are well lit
Google Maps is, without a doubt, one of the most popular apps on almost
every device. Over the years, it has grown from a simple
navigation tool to an app that can recommend restaurants, prevent you from
getting a speeding ticket, or allow you to order a taxi.
Now, thanks to the XDA-Developers portfolio, we learn that Google seems to be working one more way to keep you safe when using their folders. Google Maps, in fact, is preparing a new "Lighting" option to show which streets are well lit at night.
Lighting Yellow lines Show streets with good lighting Start No lighting info available See how brightly lit the streets are Good lighting New! See how brightly lit the streets are "Lighting view is not available at this zoom or in this region" Zoom in to see lighting data.

What is known for now is that the tool will be able to show you on which
streets there is good lighting, where it is bad or not. There are even
indications that it will be able to show you how bright the streets are,
AndroidCentral reports.
Although many details are not yet known, this option will be a welcome addition to the already robust navigation application, as finding out which streets are well lit and which are not, can increase safety but also help navigate an unfamiliar location.
