Parts of the spaceships will be made in space

The launching of large structures created by man in space presents a major challenge. But 3D printing technology can make production in space much more convenient by moving the entire process in areas where there is almost no gravity.

NASA has just signed an agreement worth $ 73.3 million with the Maid in Space spacecraft to print parts of spacecraft into orbit using a small spaceship called Arkine Wan. The device will try to print two carriers that would eventually be used to hold solar panels.

"Arkin Wang" should be launched on a rocket from New Zealand no earlier than 2022.

"Robotic production and assembly are undeniable game changers and fundamental capabilities for future space exploration," said NASA Jim Reuters.

These news is actually the beginning of the second phase of NASA's partnership with Mail In Space, a company that has already successfully printed a structural carrier in a NASA facility that mimics the conditions in space.

But real orbit will no doubt be a special challenge.
